Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking a qualified plumber to ensure the proper functioning of piped systems including natural gas, medical gases, vacuum, water, steam and fire protection on premises. You will repair, install, service and maintain plumbing systems, coordinate shutdowns, document work, and work with outside utilities and vendors while complying with Florida plumbing codes and Orlando Health policies.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years’ experience as a plumber.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.

Position Summary

Responsible for the proper functioning of piped systems to include natural gas, medical gases, vacuum, heating, steam (traps and piping), valves, controls, piping, outside utilities on premises (sewer and storm drains, gas, water), water distillers, pumps, hot and cold water, tanks, drains, water booster systems and fire protection.

Responsibilities
  • Repairs, adjusts, or replaces the entire plumbing systems, including waste-vent water piping, and fixtures and equipment served by these systems in compliance with state plumbing code.
  • Plans, installs and services plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls used to transport water, waste or gases.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures. Installs supports and hangers for pipes, fixtures, and equipment. Assembles and installs valves, controls, and fittings.
  • Reviews drawings, plans and specifications to determine system layout for repair or modification.
  • Collaborates with outside utilities and vendors on premises.
  • Responds to emergency calls.
  • Works independently from work orders or verbal instructions and prioritizes work based on type and circumstance.
  • Works with inspectors from the water and/or sewer department, fire department and plumbing inspectors.
  • Performs visual inspections to detect abnormal operation and correct deficiencies.
  • Maintains inventory and orders stock.
  • Identifies required tools and special equipment.
  • Installs various fixtures in new work and remodeling projects.
  • Coordinates shutdown of various plumbing systems as necessary.
  • Supervises trades assigned to help with plumbing projects.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
  • Participates in scheduled department meetings.
  • Maintains the confidentiality and security of all data and information relating to the facility, medical staff, and patients.
  • Ensures Joint Commission and other regulatory or licensure requirements are updated and maintained.
  • Maintains current operational and repair records for all utilities equipment to include vendor related activities.
  • Promotes and engages in behavior that is conducive to Orlando Health’s standards of behavior.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years’ experience as a plumber. One (1) year of experience is required if a trade or vocational school graduate.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.
