Job summary

Palm Beach State College is seeking a Plumber to schedule, coordinate, and perform plumbing work across campuses. You will install, maintain, and repair plumbing machinery and systems, supervise materials, and assist other trades as needed.

This role requires a Journeyman license and valid Florida driver’s license, with some weekend hours and on-call reporting. You will inspect and repair pipes and fixtures, ensure compliance with codes, and communicate with vendors and campus staff to keep

About the Role

Responsible for scheduling and coordinating all plumbing work orders and projects. Installs, maintains, and repairs plumbing machinery, equipment, and related structures and systems for all campuses. Provides expertise in large scale plumbing issues and construction projects and assists other skilled trades as needed. Must work some weekends, during college closings, and required to report in times of equipment failure or outage.

What a day of a Plumber looks like

• Troubleshoots and repairs a variety of plumbing issues including toilets, flush controls water heating, delivery and drainage systems, and assists with campus maintenance.
• Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
• Plans, administers, and takes physical inventories of equipment or material.
• Prepares material list to order materials and supplies to complete assigned tasks.
• Meets and communicates with current or potential vendors.
• Coordinates with vendors and purchasing department.
• Monitors, evaluates, and coordinates services provided by outside vendors.
• Inspects and repairs equipment and machinery for safe operation.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment consistent with equipment recommendations.
• Repairs faulty or damaged equipment as needed.
• Responds to a variety of service order calls.
• Accurately logs and provides updates on service requests.
• Tracks and records maintenance and repair work performed.
• Provides consultation and assistance regarding specific matters within area of expertise.
• Assists with permit and plan reviews.
• Maintains and performs in a safe workplace, and follows established safety practices.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED with additional training related to the position
• Four years of related experience

Knowledge of

• Current plumbing codes and tools
• Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
• Safety procedures and guidelines

Skilled in

• Operating plumbing tools

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $25.81 per hour; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate’s education and experience.
