Roto-Rooter is seeking a Journeyman Plumber to join a nationwide service network. You will respond to calls, diagnose issues, install/repair fixtures, and provide accurate estimates while guiding customers through the service process.

Qualifications

• A valid driver’s license.
• State plumbing license is preferred.
• Three or more years of repair and service plumbing experience.
• Proven track record in the sale of plumbing products and services.
• Full knowledge of plumbing systems.
• Journeyman license or equivalent certification as specified by the state.
• Unlicensed plumbers will be expected to obtain certification when eligible.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for customer service.

Responsibilities

• Responds to service calls, diagnoses problems, offers effective solutions and estimates, and closes service sales.
• Installs and repairs various plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, etc.).
• Conduct sewer and drain cleaning and restore work sites.
• Prepare invoices, collect payment, and explain guarantees.
• Interact with customers in a professional manner and travel to sites.
• Extensive driving to customer locations.
• Provide trustworthy service in customers’ residences.

Our plumbers provide a wide range of plumbing services, including faucet repairs, water heater installations, and plumbing system replacements.

Responsibilities

• Responds promptly to customer service calls, conducts thorough inspections of plumbing issues, accurately diagnoses problems, offers effective solutions and estimates, and successfully closes service sales.
• With the necessary licensing, proficiently installs and repairs various plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
• Conduct sewer and drain cleaning services in diverse environments such as basements, roofs, confined spaces, and close quarters. Ensure thorough cleaning and restoration of work sites to meet pre-job conditions.
• Prepares invoice, totaling costs of services/products provided. Collects payment and explains Roto-Rooter guarantee, both in writing and on provided smartphone.
• Collect payment and move on to the next service call.
• Direct interaction with vulnerable populations such as children or elderly.
• Extensive driving to customer in a timely and professional manner
• Entering customers’ residence providing trustworthy service while solving the problem.

Service technicians are paid an hourly rate of $17.81 during training. After training, they are paid an hourly rate at or above the minimum wage for all hours worked. The hourly pay rate may vary, depending on whether the pay is for base pay paid at the employee’s base hourly rate (minimum wage), or administrative pay for administrative hours worked (between minimum wage and $70.19). Service technicians also have the potential to earn commissions at the rate of 16-22% of revenue depending on the revenue category. Requirements

• A valid driver’s license.
• State plumbing license is preferred.
• Three or more years of repair and service plumbing experience required. Proven track record in the sale of plumbing products and services required.
• Full knowledge of plumbing systems is essential for performing duties.
• Plumbers are expected to gain Excavation Certification through Competent Person Training (OSHA requirement) within the first year of employment. Journeyman license or equivalent certification as specified by the state in which branch operates and performs service. Unlicensed plumbers will be expected to obtain certification as soon as they become eligible, if necessary, by state law.
• Must have good written and oral communication skills for effective customer service. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills in client and co-worker relations.
