Job summary

Westchester Medical Center in Kingston, NY is seeking a Plumber to ensure proper operation of hospital piping systems and related equipment. You will perform repairs, preventative maintenance and emergency responses to plumbing, steam and medical gas systems, while maintaining stock and documenting work with computer systems.

The role requires 3–5 years of plumbing experience, ability to read/write English, and a NYS driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Repairs faucets, toilets, traps, kitchen equipment, hot water and steam units, sprinklers, etc.
• Makes emergency repairs to piping systems (water, sewer, steam lines).
• Inspects, maintains and repairs medical gases and related systems.
• Performs preventative maintenance and overhaul of valve stems.
• Maintains pumps, water, air and vacuum systems.
• Repairs sterilizers and related equipment.
• Keeps stock of supplies and adheres to state/local codes.
• Completes required paperwork using computer systems and annual testing.

Job description

To assure a healthy, functional Hospital environment through the proper operation, control and maintenance of all piped-mechanical systems including: water, sewer, steam, medical gases, compressed air and natural gases. Monthly fire inspections, PM fire systems and or any other duties as directed to maintain compliance. Answer all calls - maintenance. Boiler PM coverage.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Repairs faucets, toilets, traps, kitchen equipment, hot water and steam units, sprinklers, etc.
• Makes emergency repairs to all piping systems, water, sewer, etc.; repairs high pressure steam lines.
• Inspects, maintains and repairs medical gases, oxygen, suction, medical air, etc.
• Performs preventative maintenance and overhaul of valve stems
• Performs preventative maintenance repair of pumps, water, air, vacuum, etc.
• Repairs equipment, i.e., sterilizers, autoclaves and bed pan hoppers, etc.
• Maintains adequate stock of supplies required in assigned tasks
• Maintains current knowledge of State and local plumbing codes
• Completes required paperwork properly, using computer technology enhancements, as required; fulfills annual mandatory employee testing.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS EXPERIENCE

• 3-5 yrs.

EDUCATION

• Less than High School; must read and write English

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Plumbing apprenticeship or related trade school training or other directly related experience.
• Licensed Plumber preferred
