Job summary

Position Description

Operates mixing machine to blend ingredients into compounds for processing by performing the following duties. This position provides these responsibilities for both Heinz Line and Appetizer line products produced.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Load ingredients into mixing machine hopper from conveyor, scales, or hand trucks, or directs other workers in performing this task
• Start machine and adjust valves to admit steam or cooling fluids to steam jacket or devices in mixing chamber to aid in blending and densifying mixture
• Operate machine until mixture reaches desired consistency, and turn lever to unload mixture into container, conveyor, or mill for sheeting
• Operate auxiliary equipment to break up, grind, dry mix, or otherwise prepare mixture for final processing
• Attend to automatic mixing machine by maintaining adequate levels of ingredients
• Dump cheese curd into totes
• Monitor waste reductions
• Record temperature of batter
• Record usage for start-up charges
• Make adjustments on equipment for efficient operations and product quality, such as levels of batter for proper coverage
• Set up equipment for start-up and change over
• Complete preventive maintenance as needed
• Record downtime and ingredient lot codes
• Weigh and record waste assigned by Supervisor
• Ensure company goals are met through continuous line improvements
• Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good manufacturing practices
• Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as provided
• Must follow all plant food safety and person safety rules and procedures
• Work with enthusiasm and sense of urgency daily.
• Pull potatoes from cooler to production lines
• Uses manual and electric pallet jacks to move products
• Perform line worker positions when necessary
• Document each pallet on puller sheet
• Move dirty trays to washroom
• May perform belt checks
• Stack unused pallets

This role will require extended hours based on production needs, including work to be performed after regular business hours and on weekends.

QualificationsEducation, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:

Ability to understand and communicate effectively. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.

Must be Pallet Jack certified or able to be certified

Physical environment/work conditions

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, fingers and arms to handle, feel and reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 25 - 40 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and electrically powered equipment. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
