Owens Corning is seeking a 3rd shift technician to design, program, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC, CNC, robotic, and automated production systems in a Tennessee manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities include improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while supporting continuous improvement initiatives with cross-functional teams.

Formación

  • Minimum 3 years of PLC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting, modifying, and optimizing PLC-controlled production equipment.
  • Experience with HMI systems, robotics, CNC equipment and industrial automation preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical controls, industrial networking and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of LOTO, machine guarding, and OSHA requirements.

  • Maintain PLC, HMI, robotic, and CNC programs to improve equipment reliability, productivity, product quality, and operator safety.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce downtime, improve throughput, eliminate waste, and enhance overall manufacturing performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system, automation, and production equipment issues to minimize interruptions and meet specifications.
  • Ensure modifications meet safety standards, machine guarding, LOTO, and electrical codes.
  • Support quality initiatives by investigating process variations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and EHS to pursue continuous improvement.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures, safety incidents, and recurring production issues.
  • Maintain documentation, backups, schematics, and system changes for reliability and compliance.

This is a 3rd shift, **hourly** position - 10:30pm - 7am Sunday - Thursday. Not an engineering postion!
$1/hr shift differential
Job Purpose
Support manufacturing operations by designing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting PLC, CNC, robotic, and automated production systems. Ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting product quality, continuous improvement initiatives, and compliance with all company safety standards.

Main Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Maintain PLC, HMI, robotic, and CNC programs to improve equipment reliability, productivity, product quality, and operator safety.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that reduce downtime, improve throughput, eliminate waste, and enhance overall manufacturing performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system, automation, and production equipment issues to minimize interruptions and maintain product specifications.
  • Ensure all equipment modifications meet applicable safety standards, machine guarding requirements, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and electrical codes.
  • Support quality initiatives by investigating process variations, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring equipment consistently produces products within established specifications.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and EHS teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Participate in root cause analysis activities for equipment failures, safety incidents, quality concerns, and recurring production issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, programming backups, schematics, and system changes to support equipment reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement through leadership, training, and employee engagement.

Key Safety and Quality Expectations

  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Champion safe work practices and proactively identify and correct hazards.
  • Utilize Lockout/Tagout procedures when troubleshooting, servicing, or modifying equipment.
  • Ensure automation systems support product quality requirements and prevent defects.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and equipment reliability.
  • Support corrective and preventive actions resulting from safety audits, quality findings, or equipment failures.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of PLC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, modifying, and optimizing PLC-controlled production equipment.
  • Experience with HMI systems, robotics, CNC equipment, and industrial automation preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical controls, industrial networking, and manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.
