Job summary

Commissioning Partners seeks an experienced PLC Programmer to design, program, troubleshoot, and commission industrial automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, electrical controls, industrial communication networks, and automated manufacturing equipment.

The PLC Programmer will work closely with Controls Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Operations teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of hands-on PLC programming and controls experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, or process environments.
• Strong experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell or Siemens PLCs.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA programming and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of PLC logic, sequencing, interlocks, alarms, I/O, and control systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and automation systems using electrical drawings, PLC diagnostics, and testing equipment.
• Experience with industrial communication networks and PLC-to-device integration.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, control drawings, and technical documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs for automated manufacturing and industrial equipment.
• Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley/Rockwell and Siemens PLCs.
• Develop and modify HMI/SCADA applications, operator screens, alarms, trends, and control logic.
• Configure and troubleshoot PLC I/O, sensors, actuators, motors, VFDs, servo systems, valves, and other field devices.
• Perform equipment startup, commissioning, functional testing, and troubleshooting of automated systems.
• Diagnose PLC logic, electrical, instrumentation, communication, and control-system issues.
• Support installation and integration of new automated equipment and production lines.
• Develop and execute PLC software changes, machine sequences, interlocks, alarms, and control strategies.
• Troubleshoot industrial communication networks such as EtherNet/IP, Ethernet, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, DeviceNet, and similar protocols.
• Interface PLC systems with robotics, vision systems, conveyors, packaging equipment, process equipment, and other automated systems.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, equipment qualification, and startup activities as required.
• Review electrical schematics, P&IDs, control narratives, functional specifications, and equipment documentation.
• Develop and maintain PLC software documentation, backups, change records, and technical documentation.
• Work with maintenance and operations teams to identify recurring equipment issues and implement permanent corrective solutions.
• Support preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
• Participate in system upgrades, controls modernization, machine modifications, and automation improvement projects.
• Ensure automation systems comply with applicable safety, quality, engineering, and manufacturing standards.
