Job summary

ThyssenKrupp Presta AG in the USA seeks an automation solutions expert for PLC programming and visualization development for small to mid-sized BIW project teams. You will program PLC modules, enable data communication to robots and process devices, and support field commissioning and fault analysis.

The role requires experience with VW standards and familiarity with UL/ASME requirements in the US; weekend work is possible. Training customers and preparing documentation are part of the job.

Qualifications

• Experience in commissioning and fault analysis of PLC programs.
• Plant installation to VW standards; USA UL/ASME awareness is a plus.
• Ability to create or adapt PLC programs and visualizations to customer standards.
• Ability to perform cycle-time measurements and data analysis from SCADA.

Our Automotive Body Solution business is a dedicated local line builder specializing in small-scale projects with a focus on precision and quality. Our expertise encompasses Brownfield Body-in-White (BIW) Automation Lines, offering comprehensive services from design and simulation to manufacturing, installation, and programming. Our capabilities extend to robot and PLC programming, virtual commissioning, and quality improvement, all managed through meticulous project oversight. In addition, we provide specialized labor, including hemming expertise in roller and table top hemming, as well as prototype equipment for BIW and forming dies. With a strong foundation in consulting, we assist with BIW process optimization and forming die expertise. Our Greenfield BIW services further highlight our versatility and commitment to delivering top-tier solutions in the automotive industry.

Pay: based on experience and education $45 -$65/hour. This role does require weekend work.

• As a specialist for automation solutions, you are an important part of our digitalization team
• You are responsible for the creation or adaptation of PLC programs and visualizations according to customer standards within the framework of small and medium-sized projects
• You will develop and program PLC modules within the existing automation standards for data communication to downstream systems such as robots and process devices and higher-level systems.
• You accompany the commissioning and carry out the error analysis of the programs
• You are responsible for diagnosing and rectifying PLC faults
• You are the technical contact person for project management
• You create training documents and train customers from the areas of production and maintenance
• You will constantly expand your knowledge of new programming standards and analyze new and innovative market trends

The following qualifications and responsibilities are required:

• Plant installation according to VW standards / VASS 6; experience in the USA with UL, ASME, and local standards and requirements is an advantage
• Commissioning progress control: track and measure status, define necessary actions, and initiate implementation
• Prepare acceptance activities and conduct them together with the customer
• Participate in automation meetings with Scout and derive the necessary actions for the project
• Track the LOP list and follow up on required actions
• Represent tkAB on site in weekly status meetings with the customer
• Perform cycle-time measurements and derive necessary changes to achieve the target
• Analyze SCADA data and derive necessary changes to achieve the target
