Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Role/Purpose:
- The PLC Programmer is responsible for developing the PLC offerings within our Vision Inspection product range.
- The role involves contributing to the specification, implementation, evaluation, and release of PLC software versions to serial production.
- The job holder manages related projects for new feature development, maintenance, and technology migration according to our process framework (Mettler-Toledo PLM framework).
- The role includes participating in cross-departmental improvement projects.
- The role entails ownership of the PLC product, including technical support and training for service personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing new features for the PLC product "CIV Control" based on customer requests and roadmaps.
- Maintaining "CIV Control".
- Providing 4th level technical support for "CIV Control" and guiding Mettler-Toledo personnel in engineering and service.
- Contributing to SBU Product Lifetime Management (PLM) projects beyond "CIV Control".
What You Need to Succeed
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- PLC programming skills in B&R Automation Studio; experience with other platforms like TwinCat 3 is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of object-oriented programming.
- Experience in embedded C++/C# development projects is preferred.
- Proven ability to work in globally distributed development teams.
- High degree of self-sufficiency, responsibility, and ownership.
- Team player.
This position is considered safety sensitive and is subject to drug testing as permitted by law.
Minimum Education / Experience:
- University degree in Informatics, Electronics, Technical Informatics, or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of practical PLC programming experience in an industrial environment, ideally in food, pharma, or automotive sectors.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal if based in Tampa, FL.
- One week per quarter if based elsewhere.
