Job summary

DNOW, a leading industrial solutions provider in Midland, TX, seeks a PLC Programmer to design, develop, and maintain PLC-based control systems for diverse industrial applications. You will program, test, and commission control systems in field environments, then support onsite teams with troubleshooting and optimization.

The role requires experience with major PLC platforms, HMI/SCADA tools, and strong problem-solving skills, plus willingness to travel to projects as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience programming PLCs in industrial environments (oil & gas, manufacturing, water/wastewater, or similar).
• Proficient in ladder logic, structured text, and function block programming.
• Experience with at least one major PLC platform (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Omron, Mitsubishi, etc.).
• Familiarity with HMI/SCADA software (Ignition, FactoryTalk, WinCC, Wonderware, etc.).
• Strong understanding of control system design and electrical panels.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience integrating PLCs with MODBUS, Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA, and industrial networks.
• Familiarity with scripting (Python, VB, etc.) and database integration is a plus.
• Knowledge of safety PLCs and SIL-rated systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and debug PLC software for industrial automation projects (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.).
• Develop HMI (Human Machine Interface) and SCADA applications.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and system layouts.
• Conduct onsite installation, testing, and commissioning of automated equipment.
• Troubleshoot existing control systems, diagnose faults, and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with team members to meet project requirements.
• Maintain project documentation and version control for PLC and HMI code.
• Provide technical support and training to field technicians and operations teams.
