Job summary

SJE is hiring a PLC/HMI Programmer for the Madison, WI site to develop PLC code and HMI graphics for municipal water and wastewater control systems. You will work on panels and MCCs built in-house, and perform custom modifications as needed.

The ideal candidate has a 2-year Automation Technology degree and 5+ years of PLC/HMI experience, including Allen Bradley PLCs, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, PanelView, and Wonderware. On-site work only, strong teamwork and communication required.

• 2-year degree in Automation Technology or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in PLC/HMI programming preferred.

Responsibilities

The job:

As our PLC/HMI Programmer, your primary role will be to develop PLC code and HMI graphics for our control systems which control the movement of water and wastewater. Projects will range from working on new panels and MCC’s as they are being manufactured in-house, to doing custom modifications for control systems that are currently in operation. You will utilize Microsoft Excel to organize programming functions, and your work will be mostly independent, but in a team setting that provides support and collaboration when needed. You will be expected to work on-site as this is not a hybrid or remote position.

The skills, education, and experience you need:

To succeed in this role, you must:

• Have experience programming Allen Bradley PLC’s and HMI’s
• Be comfortable with CompactLogix, MicroLogix and some ControlLogix
• Have experience with PanelView, Maple, Auotmation Direct and Wonderware HMI Programs
• Be a self-starter
• Possess excellent time management and communication skills

A 2-year degree in Automation Technology or equivalent degree and 5+ years of experience are preferred.
