About Skyven Technologies

At Skyven Technologies, we have developed a revolutionary heat pump technology to decarbonize industrial heat and move the needle on climate change. Our technologies aim to eliminate on-site CO2 emissions from industrial steam. We implement this technology through an Energy-as-a-Service model that provides clean process heat to industrial facilities, helping manufacturers reach sustainability goals while minimizing risks and operational expenses.

About The Role

We're seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to support development and validation of control logic for our steam-generating heat pump system using Siemens S7 PLCs. The role requires approximately 20 hours per week for 4-6 weeks, with a potential extension. Compensation will be negotiable per hour.

Technology Background

Skyven's system relies on Siemens S7 PLCs to manage complex control sequences. The code is in early development, with an established structure but needs refinement. The engineer will focus on developing and refining specific sections of the code, working from a provided Sequence of Operations (SOO) and collaborating with our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine Siemens S7 PLC code based on the SOO
  • Review existing code for consistency with the SOO and identify discrepancies
  • Support unit and simulation testing to verify behavior and edge cases
  • Recommend improvements for code performance and reliability
  • Participate in weekly video calls during U.S. East Coast hours

Requirements

  • Strong experience programming Siemens S7 PLCs in industrial settings
  • Ability to interpret and implement logic from a Sequence of Operations
  • Experience with unit and simulation testing, including edge cases
  • Understanding of industrial control systems
  • Comfort working with early-stage codebases and improving them
  • Hands-on PLC implementation experience

FAQs

  • Q: Am I expected to create a new PLC system from scratch?
A: No, you'll work within an existing structure, building specific sections based on the SOO.
  • Q: Do I need to understand the entire system?
A: No, focus on assigned parts; system integration is managed by the project lead.
  • Q: Does experience with other PLC brands qualify me?
A: Siemens S7 experience is preferred, but strong experience with other platforms may be considered.
  • Q: Is working with early-stage code required?
