The candidate will lead or assist in developing test equipment specifications, implementing procedures, and driving projects from goals to budgets, while maintaining compliance with OSHA safety standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Science from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 3 years of test or controls engineering experience.
• Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
• Experience with Rockwell/RSLogix/FactoryTalk suite and PLC/HMI programming.

Responsibilities

• Develop guidelines for test equipment design, testing protocols, and data collection.
• Support, service, and troubleshoot test equipment and electrical systems.
• Develop test equipment specs per electrical safety practices and OSHA rules.
• Identify safety hazards and support remediation activities.
• Promote electrical safety, quality, and zero-incident culture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across manufacturing, engineering, quality, EHS, and suppliers.
• Perform root cause and failure analyses using structured problem-solving methods.
• Support capital equipment selection and evaluate capital requests.
• Lead or support continuous improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma initiatives.
• Drive cost-out, Kaizens, and business process improvements.
• Leverage technology to improve testing and controls systems.
• Lead projects with goals, budgets, WBS, and communication plans.

Job Description

We are seeking a PLC Engineer to support testing, controls, electrical systems, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop guidelines for test equipment design and selection, testing protocols, data collection programs, and best practices.
• Support, service, and troubleshoot test equipment and electrical systems.
• Develop test equipment specifications in compliance with electrical safety practices and OSHA requirements.
• Identify safety hazards and support remediation activities.
• Promote electrical safety, product quality, and a zero-incident culture.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, EHS, maintenance, suppliers, and other cross-functional teams.
• Perform root cause and failure analysis and apply structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Support capital equipment selection and evaluate Capital Appropriation Requests.
• Lead or support continuous improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma initiatives.
• Drive cost-out initiatives, Kaizens, and business process improvements.
• Leverage technology to improve testing and controls systems.
• Lead projects, develop project goals, budgets, work breakdown structures, and communication plans.
• Coordinate cross-functional resources to achieve project objectives.
• Support change management and Management of Change (MOC) processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Science from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 3 years of test or controls engineering experience.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
• Experience with Visual Basic/Visual Studio, SQL, and Microsoft applications.
• Experience with Rockwell Software and FactoryTalk.
• Experience with RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME, and FactoryTalk SE.
• Experience with VB6, NI LabVIEW, and NI TestStand.
• Experience with PLC and HMI programming and safety systems design.
• Project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of Controls/Test Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies, including 8D, PFMEA, control charts, Pareto charts, A3, and related tools.
• Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with electrical testing procedures and protocols.
• Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment at component and integrated system levels.
