Job description

Will be traveling to clients' locations throughout the country, 90 percent of the time.

Job Description:

Designs, modifies, develops, writes, and implements software programming applications. Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software.

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. May report directly to a project lead or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Electrical Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

The PLC Controls Engineer III implements multiple electrical projects as the Lead Engineer for an integrated system or sub-system. Provides planning, reporting, and management of electrical projects, including technical implementation. Takes full ownership of the controls program elements and executes or delegates individual tasks throughout the project lifecycle by coordinating and forecasting electrical resources in-house and on-site. May include other Electrical Project Engineers. Uses a systems approach to understand core design features, project elements, overall electrical architecture, and manages scope, budget, and schedule while maintaining customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides planning, reporting, and technical management of the PLC Controls Engineering projects.
  • Acts as Lead Engineer or team member, handling multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Manages project success across financial, technical, and timeline aspects.
  • Collaborates with engineering teams and manages scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Performs all test plans on-site, including internal and customer acceptance testing.
  • Prepares and updates reports and documentation.
  • Participates in weekly team meetings and reviews scheduled tasks and timelines.
  • Maintains customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of Controls Engineering experience in warehouse automation or material handling for post and parcel customers.
  • Leadership experience (e.g., Project Lead, Manager, Supervisor).
  • Experience managing multiple programs or projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with E-Commerce Material Handling Systems.
  • PLC programming and electrical design experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, including ladder logic, servos, motion control, VFDs, network protocols, and control system interfaces.
  • Experience with scanner and machine vision systems.
  • Project planning and budgeting skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Logix 5000, Studio 5000, ZoneFlex, RSLinx, FactoryTalk View, B&R Automation Studio, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, SST Profibus, Ignition, SOPAS, DataMan, Siemens TIA Portal, Beckhoff, Schneider, BOM generation, schematic and panel design.
