Job summary
Packaging Corporation of America in Jackson, AL, seeks an Automation Maintenance Engineer to develop plans ensuring safety, quality, productivity and uptime of automation systems. You will support departments with long-term equipment decisions and coordinate with outside contractors to keep lines running.
The role requires knowledge of automation equipment, drives, Allen-Bradley PLCs, IBA, networking, and a willingness to work all shifts, including overtime.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 1 year of related experience, or an associate's degree with 3–5 years.
- Knowledge of automation equipment, drives, Allen Bradley PLCs, IBA, virtual servers, and networking.
- Willingness to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement plans to ensure safety, quality, productivity and uptime of automation maintenance.
- Provide input to long-term automation equipment decisions and coordinate with outside contractors.
- Support daily/weekly planning to ensure cost-effective schedules and manpower.
- Establish, monitor, and improve the automation preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime.
- Assist with shutdown scheduling and long-term equipment decisions.
