Job summary

Prysmian in North Carolina is seeking an Automation Engineer to diagnose production issues, develop PLC programs, and support commissioning of new equipment for the optical fiber production line.

You will work with Rockwell, Schneider, and Siemens PLCs, lead commissioning activities, troubleshoot in real time, and ensure safety and ISO 45001/14001 compliance. Strong communication and self-direction are essential for success.

• B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science required.

Responsibilities

• Create and sustain PLC programs that control manufacturing processes and support equipment for production and facilities.
• Provide PC and PLC controls expertise to keep optical fiber lines stable, safe, and efficient.
• Troubleshoot equipment and control software issues in real time alongside technical staff.
• Lead and support commissioning activities for new production equipment.
• Maintain rigorous program and critical file backups per plant standards.
• Comply with safety procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 HSE guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

What problems will you solve?

What you will bring to the team

• Hands-on programming experience with Rockwell Allen-Bradley, Schneider, and or Siemens PLCs.

Great to have

• Experience in fiber optic or other highly automated manufacturing settings.
• Depth in IEC PLC languages: Ladder, Sequential function charts, Structured text, and Function Block Diagrams.
• Knowledge of Profibus, Ethernet, and Modbus+ communication protocols.
• HMI application development, including PC-to-PLC and PC-to-Database transactions.
• Experience programming servo drives and motion controllers.
