Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a PLC Automation Engineer to join its engineering team in Charlotte, NC. You will design industrial control systems, develop automation, and lead panel design and commissioning for data center, pharma, and life sciences projects.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in a relevant engineering field, 2–5 years of automation experience, and hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell hardware and AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN. Travel up to 30% will be required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop industrial control systems, including electrical schematics and panel layouts.
• Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and support Allen-Bradley PLC-based control systems from design through commissioning.
• Lead design efforts on large-scale automation programs and mentor junior engineers.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve project delivery timelines.
