Pay Type: Hourly Rate
Minimum Salary/Hourly Rate: $16.00
Maximum Salary/Hourly Rate: $20.00

Schedule:

  • Part Time, 5 days per week, 3:00-6:30pm, with weekly meetings on Mondays from 1:30-3:00pm

PlayArts is seeking teacher candidates for our school-age Play Loud AfterSchool program. Our program takes place offsite in 3 locations in Fishtown: Adaire, Hackett, and Moffet Elementary.

Candidates must be patient, energetic, flexible, and have experience working with elementary school-age children. Teachers must demonstrate an eagerness and ability to take on leadership roles. Each day, teachers are required to help set up rooms, supervise and engage in outdoor play with the children, and help facilitate after-school arts activities in their area of expertise.

Requirements:

  • Music, Theater, Dance, Visual Arts, STEM, or Education background preferred. However, candidates with other arts or education experience are welcome to apply.
  • Will have to obtain or provide State clearances, FBI fingerprints, and background checks prior to start date.
  • Will have to obtain or provide Mandated reporter training and TWO letters of references.
  • Arts or Education degrees preferred. Without an education-related degree, at least two years of child care (e.g., babysitting, camp counseling) or teaching experience is required.

Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday from 3:00-6:30 p.m., end of August – June, based on Philadelphia public school calendar.
  • Weekly Meetings take place on Mondays 1:30-3:00pm.
  • Total hour range per week = 18-22 hours/week.
  • Additional hours are available for camp programming on early dismissal days and days school is not in session.

Education Level:

  • BA preferred, but not required with appropriate experience.
