Summary
To provide assistance and supervision for students during lunch/recess and maintain a positive safe environment for students to eat and participate in recess, if applicable.
Qualifications
- Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and accurately report applicable information to the supervisor.
- Ability to effectively supervise students by enforcing lunchroom/playground procedures.
- Ability to carry out instructions and intervene with problem situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.
- Present evidence of a physical exam to determine "fit for duty", evidence of being free from communicable disease (TB), and submit to a criminal background check.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to walk and stand.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently tolerate working outside for recess period(s).
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out lunch/playground procedures.
- Successfully deal with problems involving different variables.
- Get along with people and display patience to all school community members.
- Communicate clearly and concisely by notifying principal(s) of any disciplinary problems that might arise.
- Set up necessary lunchroom tables and clean prior and after lunch periods.
- Assist students with following lunchroom/playground procedures.
- Assume responsibility for play equipment (playground only).
- Direct movement of groups to and from designated locations in a safe and organized manner.
- Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Display ethical and professional behavior. Serve as a role model for the school community by demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, accepting responsibility, and effective work ethic.
- Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Evaluation
- Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
