Job Summary
The Player Development Representative plays a key role in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting high-level amateur golfers with the potential to transition into professional golf. This position focuses on building relationships with elite players, tracking performance at amateur and collegiate events, and supporting their professional development through personalized mentorship and strategic career guidance. Additionally, the representative will be responsible for fitting players with the appropriate equipment to optimize performance, ensuring each athlete is prepared to compete at the highest level. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of competitive golf, advanced club fitting knowledge, and strong connections within the amateur and collegiate golf ecosystems.
Specific Job Duties
- Identify and scout high-performing amateur and collegiate golfers with potential to transition into professional careers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with players, coaches, and key influencers within the amateur and collegiate golf communities.
- Attend regional, national, and international tournaments to evaluate talent and represent the organization.
- Provide personalized development plans, mentorship, and guidance to support player progression toward the professional level.
- Conduct professional-grade equipment fittings using modern fitting tools and technologies to ensure optimal performance for each athlete.
- Maintain detailed tracking of player performance, progress, and engagement using relevant software or databases.
- Represent the organization in a professional manner while promoting its commitment to player growth and development all around the world.
- Assist with marketing, media, and brand activations involving signed amateur and professional players.
- Stay current on industry trends, NCAA regulations (if applicable), and emerging talent pipelines.
- Communicate insights, updates, trends, needs, and new ideas effectively with Management regularly.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Talent Identification & Recruitment:
- Number of high-level amateur/collegiate players identified, evaluated, and added to the prospect pipeline.
- Number of players successfully recruited and signed to professional development program.
- Retention rate and progression of recruited players toward professional competition.
- Player Development Impact:
- Measurable improvement in player performance metrics (e.g., scoring average, rankings, equipment optimization results).
- Athlete satisfaction and feedback scores related to support.
- Success stories and notable achievements by signed or supported players (e.g., tournament wins, pro tour qualification).
- Equipment Fitting & Support:
- Number of professional-grade fittings conducted for recruited players.
- Post-fitting performance feedback and validation (e.g., improved launch conditions, increased confidence).
- Quality and consistency of fitting reports and recommendations.
- Relationship & Brand Building:
- Growth and maintenance of strategic relationships with amateur circuits, college programs, coaches, and player agents.
- Participation in key events and industry functions as a brand representative.
- Brand exposure generated through athlete partnerships, content features, and social media presence.
- Operational & Administrative Excellence:
- Timely and accurate maintenance of player databases, scouting reports, and development plans.
- Efficient use of CRM, performance tracking, and communication tools.
- Responsiveness to internal teams and collaboration across departments.
Skills / Qualifications
- Advanced Club Fitting Expertise: Proficient in conducting detailed club fittings using tools such as TrackMan, GCQuad, SAM PuttLab, or similar launch monitor and fitting technologies. Strong understanding of equipment specs, player biomechanics, and how to optimize gear for elite performance.
- Talent Evaluation & Scouting Acumen: Proven ability to assess amateur and collegiate golfers' technical skill, competitive temperament, and long-term potential. Experience in player scouting or recruiting within a performance-driven golf or sport development setting.
- Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with athletes, coaches, parents, and industry stakeholders. Comfortable working in high-performance and high-stakes environments.
- Knowledge of Amateur & Collegiate Golf Landscape: Deep familiarity with major amateur tours, NCAA programs, national teams, and global ranking systems (e.g., WAGR). Understanding of recruitment cycles and relevant regulations.
- Player Development Insight: Ability to design or contribute to holistic development plans that support players’ growth in technical, physical, mental, and strategic areas of the game.
- Communication & Presentation Skills: Skilled at articulating value propositions to elite players and their support teams. Comfortable delivering presentations or representing the brand at events, clinics, or showcases.
- Tech Savvy & Data Literate: Competent with player tracking software, swing analysis programs, CRM tools, and data reporting platforms to monitor and evaluate performance over time.
- Marketing & Brand Alignment: Understanding of how player signings and development align with brand strategy and public image. Experience supporting content creation or brand activations involving athletes is a plus.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business, or a related field required.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Teams required
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in elite player development, golf instruction, collegiate recruiting, tour-level support, or talent identification within the golf industry.
- Extensive knowledge of the amateur and collegiate golf landscape, including familiarity with top-ranked junior circuits, NCAA programs, and World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).
- Track record of working with high-performance athletes, preferably at the national, collegiate, or professional level.
- Demonstrated experience in club fitting and golf equipment technologies (TrackMan, GCQuad, etc.) with a proven ability to match equipment to elite-level performance demands.
- Prior playing experience at the collegiate, national amateur, or professional level is highly desirable.
