Job summary

Play-Well TEKnologies is seeking an Activities Center employee to help run the Marin drop-in play center and assist at LEGO programs and birthday parties. You will engage children in building activities, supervise the play area, and help with store operations including stocking, customer inquiries, and basic POS tasks.

Applicants should be at least 18, with weekend availability and a positive, safety-focused attitude.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic engineering, math, construction concepts, and/or teaching/childhood education background a plus.
• First Aid/CPR training is a plus.
• Ability to pass background and health screenings.
• Must be 18 years or older and comfortable supervising children 5+.

If so, then this may be your dream job!Play-Well TEKnologies (http://www.play-well.org) is an educational enrichment company that introduces children in grades K-8 to STEM concepts using LEGO components. The Play-Well Marin Activity Center hosts a wide range of LEGO Engineering programs & birthday parties, while also operating as a retail store for LEGO sets, parts sales, and as a drop-in LEGO play center.An Activity Center Employee performs duties to help keep all aspects of the Center running smoothly. They will engage and interact with children as they free-build projects in the drop-in play area; may assist at birthday parties - adding to the level of wonder and excitement as they help their students learn basic concepts in engineering and construction; ensure the safety and welfare of all customers; may independently open or close the store, stock shelves, sell product which includes LEGO sets and individual LEGO parts, input new product and inventory into Square POS system, answer the store phone answering any parent or customer questions, sort LEGO pieces to restock our drop-in play area, help with packing materials resupplies and organization of LEGO stock for programs around the country, and clean the facility. This includes but is not limited to: daily cleaning such as sweeping, dusting shelves & product, and cleaning and restocking bathrooms. As positive representatives of Play-Well they also greet and help new customers as they arrive, while maintaining supervision of any children in the drop-in area. The Activity Center is currently open Monday-Sunday, and some holidays. Applicants must have weekend availability. This position reports directly to the Activity Center Manager.Skills And Competencies:Organizational skills.Ability to muli-task.Time management skills.Proven customer service skills.Past history caring for children.Punctual and reliable.Desire to complete tasks at hand quickly and efficiently.Ability to positively and tactfully interact with parents, children, and co-workers.Focused on creating a fun & safe play environment to keep participants engaged.Proficient with computers; must understand how to input information for use as a daily tool.Knowledge of Square POS System is a plus!Education / Experience / Physical RequirementsEducation varies: understanding of basic engineering, math, construction concepts, and/or teaching and childhood education background a plus.Work experience varies; previous retail sales & customer service experience desired.First Aid/CPR training is a plus.Agility required helping children ages 3+, such as bending, stooping, crawling, and sitting on floor.Experience independently supervising multiple children for extended periods of time.Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand on small ladder.Must pass all background and health tests as a condition of employment.Must be 18 years or older and comfortable being the solely responsible party while supervising children 5+.Wider knowledge of and interest in upcoming sets and LEGO themes is a bonus, but not required to apply.
