Ellie Mental Health, PLLP in Clinton Township, MI is seeking a Play Therapist to help children express themselves through developmentally appropriate play therapy in a welcoming outpatient setting. You will partner with families, create individualized plans, document timely clinical notes, and collaborate with a supportive team.

Requires master's in behavioral health and full Michigan licensure; hybrid schedule with some evenings/weekends; compensation $70,000–$90,000 annually plus potential

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a behavioral health field required.
• Full clinical license in Michigan (LMSW/LPC/LMFT) required.
• Experience providing therapy to children using play-based interventions preferred.
• Strong understanding of child development and family dynamics required.
• Play therapy training or RPT credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient therapy to children using developmentally appropriate play therapy techniques.
• Partner with parents and caregivers to support progress beyond the therapy room.
• Create individualized treatment plans and help clients work through emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges.
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation.

Children don’t always have the words to explain what they’re going through. As a Play Therapist at our locally owned Ellie Mental Health clinic, you’ll use creativity, connection, and clinical skill to help children express themselves, build coping skills, and grow.

You’ll work with children and families in a welcoming outpatient setting, alongside a team that shares ideas, supports one another, and cares about making therapy more accessible.

What we’re looking for

• A master’s degree in a behavioral health field and a full clinical license in Michigan, such as an LMSW, LPC, or LMFT


• Experience providing therapy to children and using play-based interventions


• A strong understanding of child development and family dynamics


• A warm, creative approach that helps children feel safe and engaged


• Play therapy training or Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credentials are a plus


• Comfort using an electronic health record; Valant experience is a plus

This full-time role includes a target of 25 or more recorded client sessions per week. Some evening or weekend availability is helpful for families.

Compensation: Estimated annual earnings of $70,000–$90,000+, depending on caseload and productivity, with potential bonuses and incentives.
