Job summary

Glencoe Park District is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support Lead Teachers in the full-day Children’s Circle program. This role requires a high school diploma, 19+ years of age, and DCFS licensing knowledge.

You will help supervise activities, promote development, and maintain a safe learning environment. The position is part-time, hourly, with scheduled hours 12:30 PM–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and benefits including IMRF pension, paid leave, and holiday pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Must be 19 years of age.
• Early childhood college credits and previous experience in a DCFS-licensed program are preferred.
• Knowledge of DCFS and/or IDEC licensing standards and developmentally appropriate practice is required.
• Ability to assist in planning and supervising activities that promote children's development.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within three months of hire.
• Food Handler certificate within 30 days of hire.
• All DCFS paperwork within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teachers in the full-day Children’s Circle program.
• Maintain classroom upkeep and safety.
• Assist children with toileting, nutrition, and routines.
• Interact with children at eye level and during group activities.
• Supervise activities and ensure safety during all times.
