JOB SUMMARY:

The plating operator will follow plating repair instructions outlined in a traveler to meet customer requirements. The operator must handle aircraft parts carefully to prevent damage during the plating process. They will follow detailed instructions for masking and fixturing the parts to ensure a successful plating outcome. The operator will inspect parts before and after plating to confirm they meet the specified requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Handle all components and parts carefully to prevent damage or loss.
  2. Obtain general plating masking knowledge through Able Engineering Training Modules, on-the-job training, and SOPM manual.
  3. Read, understand, and follow Work Instructions.
  4. Navigate through Filemaker to clock in on a job, move a job to the next operation, and log a job in and out of the oven.
  5. Use hand tools such as X-acto knives to mask and de-mask aircraft parts safely.
  6. Blast parts using plastic media and aluminum oxide blast cabinets according to procedures.
  7. Perform visual inspections to determine if parts require additional preparation before masking, consulting a senior operator or lead if unsure.
  8. Work with chemicals and equipment to facilitate the plating process.
  9. Adhere to all safety practices and protocols.
EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma, equivalent certificate, or bronze level WorkKeys certification required.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 0-6+ months plating experience required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Adaptability to changing surroundings.
  • Critical thinking skills.
