Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an Electroplater for work at Bangor Naval Base, Poulsbo, WA. Role involves industrial tank plating, portable selective plating, and chemical cleaning to restore shipboard components to precise specifications.

Must hold an active secret clearance; contract length is 5 months. Work is onsite at a refit facility with responsibilities including blueprint interpretation, precision measurement, and troubleshooting plating processes to ensure adherence to blueprints and shipyard

Responsibilities

Conduct tank plating operations per procedures and specs.
Perform portable selective plating to restore dimensions.
Carry out chemical cleaning before plating/finishing.
Execute dimensional restoration via polishing and metal-finishing techniques.
Interpret blueprints/technical drawings to ensure correct plating outcomes.
Use micrometers and precision tools to verify tolerances post-processing.
Troubleshoot and adjust processes to achieve desired results.
Support shipyard activities with plating/restoration work on ship components.

Pay Rate: $38/hour with $178 per diem

Must have: Secret Clearance

Job Description

This role supports electroplating and metal finishing operations at a refit facility located on Naval Base Kitsap in Bangor, Washington. You will perform industrial tank plating, portable selective plating, and chemical cleaning processes on a variety of metallic surfaces, helping restore and maintain shipboard components to precise specifications.

Responsibilities

Conduct functional and industrial tank plating operations on various metal surfaces in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
Perform portable selective plating to restore shipboard components to required dimensional and performance standards.
Carry out chemical cleaning processes on metallic surfaces to prepare parts for plating and finishing.
Execute dimensional restoration tasks using polishing and related metal-finishing techniques to meet blueprint requirements.
Interpret and follow blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate plating and finishing outcomes.
Use micrometers and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances after plating and finishing operations.
Troubleshoot plating and metal-finishing issues and adjust processes or techniques to achieve desired results.
Support shipyard and marine repair activities by performing plating and restoration work on components used in ship systems.

Essential Skills

Hands-on experience with electroplating processes, including functional and industrial tank plating.
Ability to perform portable selective plating on shipboard components to restore them to required specifications.
Knowledge of chemical cleaning methods for metallic surfaces used in preparation for plating and finishing.
Proficiency in polishing and related metal-finishing techniques for dimensional restoration.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
Skill in using micrometers and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
Experience working in shipyard, marine, or ship repair environments.
Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving plating and metal-finishing process issues.
Must hold an active secret security clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prior experience in a submarine base or naval shipyard environment.
Familiarity with shipboard components and systems commonly requiring plating and restoration.
Understanding of industrial safety practices related to chemical handling and metal-finishing operations.
Ability to follow detailed technical procedures and maintain accurate documentation of work performed.

Pay and Benefits
