Job summary

McGard is hiring a Plating Operator I for the 1st shift in Orchard Park, NY. The role runs 6:30AM-3:00PM, Monday-Friday, with overtime possible. Starting pay ranges from $20 to $23 per hour, plus on-the-job training and a pathway to increase skills in electroplating processes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and up to three months related experience or training in electroplating.
• Communicate effectively in English (both written and orally) and carry out routine instructions.
• Ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations.
• Ability to acquire skill in the use of standard equipment and hand tools related to the area of assignment.
• Ability to operate forklift, ability to operate draw furnace hoist correctly.
• Given proper instruction and personal protection safety equipment safely perform all required tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintains hardware and performs various processes to ensure that plating is properly applied to parts.
• Assist in maintaining scheduled orders at the line, pull parts from storage area as needed.
• Startup draw ovens; verify temperatures & draw speeds.
• Add plating solutions & refills tanks as necessary.
• Follow procedures for chemical additions - follow proper PPE requirements, which include length Nitrile Solve green gloves, face shield and wearing long pants.
• Process or operate various electroplating, chromate, and or passivate lines.
• Responsible for inspection of parts to meet quality as outlined by the McGard Quality Standard.
• Ensure all orders are identified properly, thickness, and post plate requirements are followed.
• Performs all assigned P.M.s and daily checklists.
• Complete department material & supply requisitions as needed.
• Assist in Inventorying all received chemicals and supplies.Perform department lockout/tagout procedures as necessary.
• Assist in training new employees.
