Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Platform Software Engineer to join our Sunrise, FL team. You will work on low-level Linux OS software, interfacing with hardware prototypes and lab test equipment, using C and scripting to implement and verify software algorithms.

The role emphasizes ownership of tasks, collaboration with engineers, and delivering robust, high-performance code for government, defense, and commercial clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (BS/CE or BS/CS) from four-year college or university, and 2 - 10+ years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Good knowledge of C.
• Familiar with multithreaded environments.
• Ability to develop software targeting Linux environment.
• Networking experience at the programming level.
• Familiarity with chip level buses (I2C, SPI).
• Any ARM development experience - Raspberry PI, TI OMAP, etc.
• Any scripting experience - Python, AWK, Lua, Shell, etc.
• Source Code Control
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.

Our office is located in Sunrise, FL where we provide highly competitive satellite, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular technologies and services to our government, law enforcement, and commercial customers. The Platform Software Engineer will implement low level Linux OS software working directly with hardware prototypes and associated lab test equipment. The successful will utilize their Linux/Unix C code and scripting language experience to implement and verify software algorithms.

Position Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

• Bachelor's Degree (BS/CE or BS/CS) from four-year college or university, and 2 - 10+ years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer skills required: (Text Editor; Command-Line source code Compiler; Code Development Software; Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good knowledge of C.
• Familiar with multithreaded environments.
• Ability to develop software targeting Linux environment (not just using a Linux environment for development).
• Networking experience at the programming level.
• Familiarity with chip level busses (I2C, SPI, etc.)
• Any ARM development experience - Raspberry PI, TI OMAP, etc.
• Any scripting experience - Python, AWK, Lua, Shell, etc.
• Source Code Control
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.

The salary range for this role is:

$85,000.00 - $145,000.00 annual
