Job summary

AeroVironment’s SET Department seeks a mid-level Software Engineer to support NASIC at Wright-Patterson AFB. You will develop and maintain multiple source code repositories for data analysis tools used in producing technical intelligence for warfighters and decision-makers.

Technologies include C++, Python, and TypeScript, with Elasticsearch and PostgreSQL for data stores. You will work across Windows and Linux, participate in design reviews, and collaborate in a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or related field.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
• 4–8 years of software design, development, coding, testing, and debugging.
• Strong web/service design, programming and requirements.
• Frontend: Javascript, TypeScript, CSS3, HTML5; frameworks like Angular or React.
• Server-side: Java, C++, Python, Go.
• Experience with Elasticsearch and PostgreSQL.
• Experience containerizing software and deploying with Open Container Images.
• Kubernetes knowledge; networking, storage and workload management.
• Git version control and test-driven development.

AV’s Specialized Exploitation & Targeting (SET) Department is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to support NASIC at Wright-Patterson AFB. You will write and maintain multiple source code repositories for data analysis tools to support the production of technical intelligence products for warfighters, senior decision-makers, and the Intelligence Community. Technologies used in this position can range from languages such as C++, Python, and TypeScript to document stores such as Elasticsearch and SQL stores such as PostgreSQL.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain existing code bases for multiple applications and websites on both the Windows and Linux environments.
• Participating in software design meetings and reviews.
• Working with other software developers in a team environment.
• Implementing unit tests and participating in functional test plan execution.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or a closely related technical field.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
• 4-8 years of experience in software design, development, coding, testing, and debugging.
• Solid foundation in web/service-based design, programming, and requirements.
• Expertise in front-end technologies including Javascript, TypeScript, CSS3, and HTML5 and third-party libraries such as Angular or React Js.
• Knowledge of server-side programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, and Go.
• Experience with document stores, Elasticsearch or similar, and SQL stores such as PostgreSQL.
• Background in creation and deployment of containerized software, including build, modification, and deployment needs of Open Container Images.
• Background in running software on Kubernetes, familiarity with networking, storage, and workload management.
• Strong foundation in git version control, best practices and git hygiene.
• Experience in test-driven development.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in interface validation and testing. This includes synchronous interfaces like HTTP API’s and asynchronous interfaces such as a Kafka message bus.
• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• Experience with Gitlab CI/CD.
• Experience working with large code bases.
• Experience designing Kubernetes application architecture for mid to large sized applications. Background in software architecture as a whole is also acceptable.
• Requirement analysis experience, to include creating formal written requirements from stakeholder descriptions.

Competencies & Work Environment

• Ability to work in a team environment. Specifically, within project management frameworks one of: Agile, Scrum, and in full-cycle development.
• Ability to work in multiple code bases and support multiple tools simultaneously.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $83,500.00 - $146,000.00

The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several factors including, but not limited to, level of position, job responsibilities, geographic location, scope of relevant work experience, educational background, certifications, contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, alignment with local internal equity as well as alignment with market data.
