Job summary

Apple, Inc. Sunnyvale is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Platform Reliability Engineering team, driving design, operation, and optimization of large-scale distributed systems powering GenAI, ML, and big data workloads.

You will leverage cutting-edge open source tech in hybrid cloud environments to build resilient infrastructure for seamless inference, data processing, and machine learning workloads at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proficiency in at least one systems programming language (Python, Go, Java, or similar).
• Strong expertise in distributed systems architecture with emphasis on reliability and scalability.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and data processing infrastructure (Kubernetes, Spark, Flink, Ray, Trino, or equivalent).
• 7+ years in SRE/DevOps or infra engineering with distributed systems experience.
• Experience diagnosing production incidents in large-scale environments.
• Familiarity with open-source codebases and reading complex system implementations.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable multi-tenant systems for enterprise workloads.
• Own lifecycle of infra/projects from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Operate high-throughput services ensuring reliability and cost-efficiency.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive post-incident improvements.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration to define requirements and deliver features.
• Identify bottlenecks and improve system resilience and observability.
