A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking an experienced PLM Technical Integration Manager for leading the migration of legacy applications to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly experienced Platform Lifecycle Management (PLM) Technical Integration Manager in the Enterprise Platform Engineering & Operations group to lead the modernization and transformation of our PLM landscape. This role oversees multiple teams in migrating legacy, datacenter-based applications to a cloud-native architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring seamless integration between PLM systems and platform services to support efficient product development and lifecycle management processes.
As a manager-level technical leader, you will provide strategic direction, technical guidance, and mentorship to your teams. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, product owners, and service owners to define and execute the PLM cloud modernization/migration strategy. A deep understanding of GCP and proven experience in leading large-scale cloud migration projects are essential. This role involves identifying strategic opportunities, assessing emerging cloud technologies and market trends, and translating the cloud vision into actionable, multi-year roadmaps and initiatives that support business objectives and drive innovation, including defining the strategic direction for hybrid or multi-cloud adoption and expansion.
Platform Lifecycle Management (PLM) Cloud Migration Leadership:
Lead multiple teams in the end-to-end migration of legacy applications from data centers to GCP, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Develop and execute detailed migration plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.
Oversee the design, development, and implementation of cloud-native solutions on GCP to replace or enhance existing legacy functionalities.
Ensure compliance with Ford's security and compliance policies throughout the migration process.
Technical Integration Management:
Manage the integration of PLM systems with other enterprise applications, such as ERP and CRM.
Define and enforce integration standards and best practices.
Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues in a timely and effective manner.
Ensure data consistency and integrity across integrated systems.
GCP Platform Management:
Provide technical leadership and guidance on the design, implementation, and management of the GCP platform for legacy applications/technology platforms.
Optimize the GCP environment for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
Stay up to date with the latest GCP services and features and identify opportunities to leverage them to improve the PLM landscape.
Ensure the GCP platform is secure and compliant with relevant regulations.
Team Management and Development:
Manage and mentor a team of technical integration specialists and engineers.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with architects, engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to define and execute the PLM cloud migration strategy.
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Present technical concepts and solutions to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
Cloud Performance Optimization and Value Realization:
Establish, monitor, and report on KPIs and metrics that measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and business value of cloud investments.
Develop and implement metrics related to cloud platform reliability, SRE/observability, cloud network performance, developer productivity, and FinOps for cloud cost optimization on GCP.
Regularly report to senior leadership on cloud program health, strategic impact, and opportunities for continuous improvement and value realization.
Qualifications (selected):
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent work experience.
15+ years of experience leading and delivering complex infrastructure projects or enterprise system integrations.
10-15+ years of experience in program management, portfolio management, or strategic planning within a large-scale tech organization.
5-7+ years of direct leadership experience managing complex technical programs or portfolios within cloud infrastructure/operations or cloud-based software development.
Extensive hands-on experience leading multiple teams in transforming applications from legacy datacenter-based apps to Cloud Native GCP stacks.
GCP expertise including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), GCP Cloud Run, SRE, and related tooling.
PMP Certification.
Experience with Agile development methodologies and Agile/Scrum certifications.
Portfolio/Program Management experience and experience leading global teams with executive reporting.
Experience establishing or contributing to a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) or similar structure.
Experience with FinOps for cloud cost optimization and familiarity with CI/CD tools and automation frameworks (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Terraform, Ansible).
Ability to develop program roadmaps and align with executive leadership.
Ability to collaborate with platform owners to ensure end-to-end platform readiness for deployments.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
