Avala is hiring for a DevOps/infrastructure role focused on building scalable AWS-based platforms. You will manage Terraform across environments, run ECS Fargate, and operate Aurora PostgreSQL with Redis, while shaping CI/CD pipelines with Buildkite.

Responsibilities include monitoring, DR planning, security hardening, and cost optimization as our data and customer base grow.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in infrastructure/DevOps/platform engineering.
• Strong Terraform experience with modules and state management.
• Deep AWS knowledge (ECS, RDS/Aurora, S3, CloudFront, IAM, VPC).
• Experience with containers in production and Docker.

Own Avala's AWS infrastructure end-to-end — from Terraform modules and ECS deployments to Aurora databases and CI/CD pipelines. You'll ensure the platform scales reliably as we grow from startup to serving the largest AV and robotics companies in the world.

What You'll Do:

• Manage and evolve Terraform infrastructure across production and development AWS environments
• Operate and scale ECS Fargate services, Aurora PostgreSQL clusters, and Redis infrastructure
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite) for server, Flutter web, and serverless deployments
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability using CloudWatch, Sentry, and custom dashboards
• Design and execute disaster recovery procedures, backup strategies, and security hardening
• Optimize cloud costs as data volumes and customer count scale

Requirements:

• 4+ years of infrastructure / DevOps / platform engineering experience
• Strong Terraform experience — modules, state management, Terraform Cloud workflows
• Deep AWS knowledge — ECS, RDS/Aurora, S3, CloudFront, IAM, VPC networking
• Experience with container orchestration and Docker in production
• Solid understanding of networking, TLS, DNS (Cloudflare), and CDN configuration

Nice to Have:

• Experience with PostgreSQL administration (Aurora specifically is a plus)
• Familiarity with serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions)
• Experience scaling infrastructure for data-intensive applications
