Job summary

IPT Associates (IPTA) is seeking a Platform Infrastructure Engineer in Huntsville, AL to install, configure, manage and maintain VMware-based data center virtualization to meet mission requirements.

The role requires DoD 8570 certification, VMware expertise (ESXi, vCenter, NSX, vSAN) and active security clearance, with 10+ years in virtualization and cloud environments, plus collaboration with architects and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in a similar role.
• DoD 8570 Level II/III certification desired.
• VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization.
• Experience in data center virtualization and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, deploy, and support VMware ESXi, vCenter, and enterprise server infrastructure.
• Engineer installation and maintenance of server hardware and the ESXi virtualization platform.
• Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies into virtualization solutions to enhance performance.
• Evaluate virtualization solutions to reduce complexity while maintaining cybersecurity.
• Support VMware technologies including vSAN, vROps, and NSX.
• Monitor virtualization performance and resolve issues.
• Monitor tools that provide insights into workloads and resource usage.
• Assess network and server architecture for efficiency, improvements, or upgrades.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of the data center’s virtualization software, hypervisors, interfaces, layout, system, and processes.
