Job summary

Lendbuzz in Boston is seeking a hands-on Platform Engineer & Tech Lead to guide a team of engineers while remaining deeply involved in development. You will collaborate with multiple teams to solve pains, drive architectural standards, and deliver high-impact technical initiatives in a hybrid setup.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of software experience, strong backend skills in Typescript/Python/Go/Rust/C#, and practical Kubernetes expertise.

Qualifications

• Computer Science degree from a leading university.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience developing on Kubernetes using HELM/Kustomize/Crossplane/CDK/Other.
• Strong backend development skills in modern languages listed above.
• Proficiency with Claude/Codex for writing prompts and features.

Responsibilities

• Approximately 50% hands-on development.
• Collaborate with managers and champions from various teams to prioritize tasks.
• Lead a team of engineers, align vision with management, teach leadership, and mentor.
• Build decentralized ecosystems easy to contribute to with Backstage, CLI tools, and templates.
• Drive high-impact multi-team technical initiatives from ideation to delivery.
• Lead Kubernetes initiatives and manage research of cloud-native technologies.

This position is a unique hybrid of a hands-on technical developer & leader with a highly analytical developer focused product manager.

Key Responsibilities

• ~50% hands on development

• Work together with your manager, other engineering managers, service owners and champions from various teams to understand their pains and prioritize the teams’ tasks accordingly.

• Lead a team of engineers with a computer science background, keep their vision focused and aligned with management, teach them how to lead projects effectively, collect feedback and give good service to the engineers of the company

• Build decentralized ecosystems that are very easy to contribute to with vibe coding (Backstage, CLI tools, Microservice templates, Self Service, HELM Charts values, etc)

• Drive high-impact, multi-team technical initiatives from ideation to delivery by establishing clear technical standards, defining trackable compliance metrics while securing the buy-in of other engineering leaders

• Lead Kubernetes (K8s) initiatives.

• Manage research of cutting edge cloud native technologies

Key Requirements

• Computer Science degree from a leading university

• 5+ years of software development experience.

• 2+ years of experience developing applications on K8S using HELM/Kustomize/Crossplane/CDK/Other

• Understand the concepts of Platform Engineering well

• Strong backend development skills in a modern languages: Typescript/Python with Asyncio/Go/Rust/Modern C#/Kotlin.

• Proficiency with Claude/Codex which includes writing skills, system prompts & delivering features across multiple repos.

Preferred

• Production experience running services on Kubernetes..

• Proven experience writing design documents, presenting them to engineering leaders and answering hard technical questions in fluent English.

• Experience writing and maintaining internal tools with an impact on developer experience such as: Backstage/Port, internal CLI tools/Microservice templates/infra-related libraries, agentic flows/AI skills

• Experience working with open source K8S charts such as: Keycloak, Debezium, Airflow, Temporal, a feature flag system or LangSmith
