Job summary

Harper is hiring a senior engineering leader in San Francisco to own infrastructure, developer productivity, and SRE/production support for a fast-growing AI-first platform. The role combines hands-on work with building a small team and expanding capabilities as scale increases.

You will work directly with engineers, drive platform improvements, and mentor a team as it grows from 2 to 5–6 people in the next few months. This is an on-site, full-time role in SF.

Qualifications

• 2+ years as a line manager, directly leading teams of 6–10 people or ready to grow into that role.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP and strong database troubleshooting skills.
• Experience handling high-scale traffic, e.g., millions of requests per minute.
• Ability to troubleshoot across databases, networking, compute, Docker, Kubernetes, and related infra.
• Interest in developer productivity and AI tooling as part of infrastructure ownership.

Responsibilities

• Own infrastructure — cloud, third-party vendors, and surrounding it.
• Build developer productivity — AI tooling and harnesses for AI-first teams.
• Own SRE and production support — implement production discipline for high growth.
• Build out the team — grow from 2 to 5–6 people in the near term.
• Stay hands-on — work directly with engineers and contribute code or runbooks.
• Grow each function over time — scale infrastructure, productivity tools, and SRE teams.
