Job summary

GreatAmerica is seeking a Platform Engineering Intern in Cedar Rapids to gain hands-on experience with the platforms and DevOps toolchain (ServiceNow, Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub) that support our technology operations. You will work alongside experienced engineers on maintenance, monitoring, automation, and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a technical degree, has interest in cloud technologies, infrastructure, and automation, and is eager to learn.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other relevant technical degree
• Familiarity with SQL, cloud platforms and scripting languages enhances suitability
• Basic understanding of DevOps, automation, and cybersecurity fundamentals
• Strong communication and collaboration skills and willingness to learn new tools

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with platform engineers to support configuration, maintenance, and improvement of enterprise platforms
• Assist with automation and CI/CD pipeline exposure (Azure DevOps, GitHub) and help troubleshoot platform issues
• Write SQL queries and assist in optimizing database interactions in support of platform data and reporting needs
• Document technical processes, configuration standards, and contribute to the team's knowledge base
