Job summary

DRW in Chicago is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the Platform Infrastructure team. You will drive how we deploy, observe, and scale systems to support Cumberland and FICCO's trading operations, with a focus on fast deployments, clear observability, and self-service infrastructure.

You’ll build with Terraform/Terragrunt and Ansible, improve monitoring with Prometheus/Grafana, and advance container orchestration and workload management in a high-performance trading environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting mission-critical, high-performance trading systems.
• Strong Kubernetes experience (deployment, troubleshooting, optimization).
• Proficiency with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and observability.
• Solid Python skills for automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible and Terraform/Terragrunt.
• Strong Linux systems knowledge.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and software delivery best practices.
• Familiarity with TLS and network protocols (including multicast and WebSockets).
• Familiarity with AWS.

Responsibilities

• Converge and improve application deployment patterns across containerized and non-containerized workloads.
• Build self-service infrastructure provisioning using Terraform/Terragrunt and Ansible.
• Drive CI/CD excellence and advocate for modern software delivery practices.
• Enhance monitoring and alerting to enable proactive capacity management and early failure detection - without the noise.
• Research and implement technologies that improve container orchestration, workload management, and system visibility.
• Learn and support in-house tools for infrastructure management and deployment workflows.
• Participate in on-call rotation to resolve trade-critical issues and identify opportunities for automation.
• Maintain system security through regular patching, reporting, and compliance with security standards.
• Challenge the status quo and advocate for meaningful change.
