Job summary

Halluminate is seeking a Platform Engineer to own our platform engineering, develop frontier RL environments, and help scale our engineering team from the ground up. The role is based in San Francisco with 5 days in the office, offering a base salary of $200–275k plus equity and relocation support.

We value startup speed and strong product ownership, plus the ability to talk with users, customers, and SMEs.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with evaluations, benchmarks, or RL for AI agents.
• Ability to move quickly in a startup environment.
• Strong ownership of product and user outcomes.
• Comfort talking to users, customers, and SMEs.

Responsibilities

• Build RL environment training and inference infrastructure to support customer usage at scale.
• Research and develop next-generation RL environments with long horizons.
• Improve quality and throughput of RL environment creation.
• Innovate on synthetic data pipelines to create realistic problems.
• Build platform analytics for environment cost, hours, bottlenecks, and SME management.
• Create verifiers for decks, Excel modeling, quantitative trading, and beyond.
• Establish engineering culture and practices from the ground up.
