Job summary

AeroVect is building autonomous ground-vehicle software platforms in Atlanta, focused on reliable Linux-based image pipelines and real-time performance for safety-critical workloads. You will own OS image creation, kernel drivers, and ROS 2 integration, collaborating with perception and autonomy teams to push production-ready capabilities.

The role emphasizes on-site platform engineering, security hardening, and scalable deployment processes to support field trials and customer pilots worldwide.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Linux-based embedded or robotics platform experience.
• Deep knowledge of Ubuntu/Linux, including package management, systemd, networking.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python; experience writing or debugging kernel modules and user-space drivers.
• Hands-on experience with ROS 1 or ROS 2 in production or research.
• Familiarity with common communication buses and protocols (USB, Ethernet, CAN, PCIe, SPI, I2C).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain custom Ubuntu/Linux distributions for real-time autonomous workloads.
• Tune ROS 2 DDS middleware for low-latency, high-throughput data flows.
• Develop and maintain kernel modules and user-space drivers for LiDARs, cameras, radars, GNSS/INS, CAN, and other interfaces.
• Expand network interfaces of the system.
• Implement observability and logging to monitor health, performance, and resource use.
• Profile CPU/GPU usage with engineering teams to remove bottlenecks.
• Harden platform for production with security patches, secure boot, OTA updates.
• Own CI/CD pipelines for OS images and driver packages; automate build/test/deploy.
• Provide on-call support during field trials and customer pilots.
• Contribute to documentation and best-practice guidelines.
