Job summary

Verition is seeking an Engineer for Platform Services in New York. You will work on live internal web apps, write queries, and help build AI-assisted tooling. The role blends front-end and back-end work with data engineering tasks in a fast-paced hedge fund environment.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers, improve deployment practices, and contribute to testing, monitoring, and documentation. A background in finance and cloud tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a similar role.
• Strong Python skills and comfortable working in a web application codebase (HTML/CSS/JS).
• Strong proficiency in Python—joins, aggregations, window functions, and query plans.
• Ability to translate vague requests into deployed results without micromanagement.
• Ability to explain technical constraints clearly and follow up without being chased.
• Exposure to financial services is preferred—trade lifecycle, securities data, or fund structures.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain features across internal web applications used across the business.
• Deliver frequent small enhancements: new fields, layout/usability improvements, filtering, export and upload handling.
• Improve query and page performance on tools used daily.
• Write and tune SQL to answer business questions and diagnose data issues.
• Investigate and resolve data-quality problems and mismatched identifiers.
• Support data flows between internal systems and build derived datasets from source systems.
