Job summary

Cox Automotive is hiring a Software Engineer II to design and implement GraphQL APIs, build multi-tenant routing, and evolve the platform with telemetry and analytics integrations. You will contribute to back-end services in Python, deploy via CI/CD, and work with AWS and API gateways in a hybrid remote setup.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, performance optimization, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to onboard new data sources and ensure scalable architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 2 years’ experience.
• Master’s degree plus up to 2 years’ experience; or 14 years’ experience in a related field.
• Strong backend development skills in Python.
• Experience building and consuming APIs (REST or GraphQL).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and container-based deployments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
• Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.
• No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.
• Availability for rotational on-call duties outside of standard business hours may be required.

• Develop and enhance Apollo router-based infrastructure and routing workflows.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including schema validation and governance checks.
• Support features for multi-tenant routing and Apollo contracts for different use cases.
• Contribute to platform initiatives such as telemetry, data capture, and integration with analytics systems.
• Troubleshoot and optimize performance, reliability, and scalability of distributed systems.
• Collaborate with cross-team stakeholders to onboard and integrate new data sources.

The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

• Understanding of API governance and schema design principles
