Role

We are looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in Cloud technology (AWS), programming skills in Python or Go, and a strong Linux foundation. The role is hybrid, requiring 1–2 days per week at the Columbia, MD office.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications.
• Develop custom software components and integrate open‑source code to address complex problems.
• Incorporate infrastructure‑as‑code tools to build and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud.
• Work autonomously to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical challenges while supporting broader strategic goals set by team architects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required; federal contract includes security‑clearance requirement (e.g., TS/SCI with polygraph). Current Secret or TS clearance acceptable.
• Educational and experience requirements:
  • 5+ years + Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years + Master’s degree
  • 9 years + high school diploma (or equivalent)
• Hybrid work capability: 1–2 days per week at our Columbia, MD office.

Required Technical Skills

• Developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes (or vendor flavor), ansible, and storage layers such as Ceph, Rook, Longhorn.
• Programming in Python or Go.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, networking, security, and shell scripting.
• Excellent problem‑solving, oral and written communication skills.

Desired Technical Skills

• Familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (e.g., Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab‑CI, Travis, Jenkins).
• Understanding of agile software development and tooling (JIRA, Confluence, Github, GitLab).
• Experience with configuration and build tools (Puppet, Ansible, Maven) and virtualization platforms (ovirt, Proxmox, VMware).
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certifications may be required by the customer.
