Job summary

Options Group is seeking a Platform Engineer for Data Visualization in New York. The role focuses on automating and enhancing existing data exploration and visualization capabilities while building frameworks that enable the modeling team to deliver new analyses swiftly.

The ideal candidate will work closely with business users and data scientists, possessing strong communication and presentation skills, and ideally, a background in big data technologies, including Hadoop.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and presentation skills and a willingness to collaborate with others is a must.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in big data technologies such as Hadoop is a plus.
• Excel VBA and Excel plugin development is a plus.
• Familiarity with Equity markets or financial industry is a plus.

Platform Engineer for Data Visualization

Full-time

The platform engineer for visualization focuses on automating and enhancing existing data exploration and visualization capabilities for our end users while building core frameworks that allow our modeling team to deliver new analysis across a growing number of data sources to end users in an agile fashion.

Responsibilities

• Build and support visualization and exploration capabilities around our big data sets
• Work in an Agile fashion with business users and data scientists to discover the potential business value of new and existing data sources and visualize those discoveries into Aperio products
• Maintain knowledge of new technology developments and conduct proof of concepts to evaluate new technologies in the area of data visualization and exploration
• Create standards for and maintain a reporting focused data warehouse
• Promote best practices for big data visualization at the firm
