Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Platform Engineer in the Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) group to build new platform capabilities from scratch. You will embed with customer-tagged FDE pods, working on architecture, product shaping, refactoring, and reusable abstractions while maintaining ownership of customer understanding and day-to-day execution.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering or ML engineering experience.
• Experience shipping 0→1 platform capabilities that others depend on.
• Strong communication and collaboration across engineering, product, and go-to-market teams.

Responsibilities

• Embed with customer-tagged FDE teams to support generalization and platform bets.
• Lead architecture, refactoring, and implementation to raise engineering quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional platform teams to bring platform capabilities to market.
• Act as DRI from requirements through implementation for high-leverage primitives.
