Job summary

F5 Networks, Inc. is seeking a Platform Engineer to modernize and automate critical VM and core infrastructure services across our data center and hybrid-cloud environments.

You will focus on DNS, PKI, logging, and observability using IaC, GitOps, and automation to scale and secure foundational services. The role emphasizes building Terraform/Ansible modules, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and embedding security throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a systems engineer or site reliability engineer supporting on-premise datacenter infrastructure and core infrastructure services.
• Proficient with hypervisor technologies such as VMware, Nutanix, OpenShift.
• Proficient with automation and management of Windows Server and Linux VMs (e.g., Ubuntu, Redhat, Debian).
• Hands-on experience engineering and automating core infrastructure services in large-scale data centers (DNS/BIND, PKI/AD CS).
• Experience building container platform capabilities in an on-premise ecosystem.
• Strong IaC and configuration management skills with Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure automation (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Familiar with Git-based workflows and GitOps principles.
• Strong scripting in Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Knowledge of data center networking (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls) and security principles.
• Experience with centralized logging/observability platforms (Splunk, Elastic Stack).
• Familiarity with security frameworks and hybrid-cloud environments.
• Kubernetes knowledge and internal platform tooling experience.

Responsibilities

• Support hypervisor operations across a global datacenter footprint and provide VM management services via automation at scale.
• Create and manage reusable Terraform modules and Ansible playbooks for core services.
• Apply GitOps principles for infrastructure configurations with PR-based changes and automated reconciliation.
• Lead architecture, automation, and operational management of core infrastructure services (DNS, PKI, NTP).
• Design, build, and maintain centralized log aggregation feeding observability platforms.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, validation, and promotion of changes to configurations.
• Embed security and compliance into the lifecycle, including secret management and certificate automation.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and dashboards; apply SRE to improve reliability.
• Collaborate with network, security, and application teams for seamless integration.
