Job summary

MANTECH is seeking a Platform Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. You will design, build, and optimize large-scale data ingest and processing systems in a Big Data environment, focusing on Elasticsearch clusters, CI/CD pipelines, and automation for on-prem infrastructure.

You will lead the integration of new technologies, maintain run-books and architectural diagrams, and collaborate with engineering teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4+ years in platform engineering, data engineering, software development, or systems administration.
• 2+ years administering and patching RHEL/CentOS Linux servers in production environments.
• Experience writing SaltStack states, pillars, and orchestration workflows (or similar IaC tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize large-scale data ingest and processing systems in a Big Data environment.
• Maintain on-prem Elasticsearch clusters, including health checks, shard allocation, index maintenance, and dashboards.
• Develop SaltStack states, pillars, and orchestration workflows for server provisioning and patch management on RHEL servers.
• Build end-to-end CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI and Jenkins for automated builds and deployments.
• Create automation scripts in Bash, Python, and PowerShell for operational tasks and bulk provisioning.
• Lead integration of third-party software and prototype new technologies; define migration paths.
• Produce run-books, SOPs, and architectural diagrams; document in Confluence/Markdown.
