Platform Engineer, Azure / DevOps
Position Location: Hybrid, Richmond, VA.
YOUR ROLE
As a member of the Platform Administration Team, you’ll influence the design, implementation, and support of cloud‑based solutions (with a focus on Azure) and play a critical role in managing technology solutions across our cloud and on‑premise ecosystem.
What You Will Be Doing
- Administer and configure Azure Synapse Analytics workspaces, Azure Databricks, Confluent Cloud, and related data integration and warehousing components.
- Develop repeatable infrastructure‑as‑code automation via Terraform.
- Serve as primary point of contact for Azure‑based solution delivery.
- Maintain Azure infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and security, adhering to operational excellence.
- Drive adoption, automation, and optimization of new and existing technologies that support DevSecOps paradigms.
- Build IT solutions on high‑performance, scalable, and flexible infrastructure on premise and in the cloud (Azure, AWS, Kubernetes).
- Aid developers and business stakeholders in the efficient design and secure use of in‑scope tools and solutions.
- Support existing DevSecOps tools and continuously refine our ecosystem to meet emergent customer needs.
- Monitor system performance, optimize resources, and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Analyze query performance and optimize data storage and retrieval processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, system outages, and other technical challenges.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Generate and review reports on system performance, usage, and other key metrics.
- Cross‑train team members on best practices, standards, and secure implementation of Azure tools and services.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams to deliver best‑in‑class cloud/Azure solutions.
What You Bring

- Experience with SQL, data modeling, and ETL processes.

- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Background in process improvement, automation, and support in a highly regulated, enterprise environment.
- 2+ years in architecture and/or cloud‑native roles.
- Experience developing infrastructure‑as‑code for cloud services, especially with Terraform.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with DevSecOps paradigms (CI/CD, automated deployments, Kubernetes, containerization, etc.).
- Passion for building cloud‑hosted solutions and ecosystems across multiple cloud providers.

Additional Information
- National range: $77,800 – $117,000.
- High‑cost range (includes New York): $97,300 – $146,000.
- Role is aligned to a national market‑based pay range. Actual compensation varies by geographic location, experience, skills, and other job‑related factors. Base salary plus potential bonus incentive plan, not guaranteed.
