Platform Engineer – AI/ML Focus (Remote but within 1 hour of Columbus, OH)
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Platform Engineer with proven experience in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) to join our team. This is a hands-on engineering position where you will help shape the organization’s AI/ML strategy by building and optimizing robust, scalable platforms. Your work will empower development and engineering teams to efficiently build, deploy, and manage AI/ML solutions.
This is a remote opportunity for candidates located within the greater Columbus, OH metropolitan area, with occasional on-site meetings and events at our Columbus headquarters.
What You'll Do:
Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
Design, build, and maintain scalable AI/ML platform infrastructure to support the full lifecycle of machine learning models — from development to deployment and monitoring.
Develop, automate, and optimize data pipelines for ingestion, preprocessing, and feature engineering.
Implement model governance policies, including version control, lineage, and auditability.
Build data validation and quality assurance frameworks to catch anomalies or drift early.
Work closely with development and engineering teams to integrate AI/ML capabilities into production systems.
Optimize AI/ML workloads for GPU and other hardware accelerators, ensuring efficient utilization and scalability.
Evaluate and configure hardware components to support large-scale AI/ML training and inference workloads.
Prioritize security and data protection in all workflows and architecture.
Design and maintain automated deployment workflows and CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application delivery.
Manage version control platforms and promote efficient team collaboration.
Support scalable and resilient containerized deployments using Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar platforms.
Leverage cloud services (AWS preferred) to enhance automation and optimize cost and performance.
Improve observability through monitoring, alerting, and logging tools.
Collaborate cross-functionally to troubleshoot and optimize performance across environments.
Maintain secure, reliable deployment practices and infrastructure.
Provide maintenance and support for SaaS tools (e.g., ServiceNow, GitHub, Harness).
Participate in Agile ceremonies and document progress in JIRA and Confluence.
Write clear SOPs and internal technical documentation.
Demonstrate transparency and ownership in communicating both successes and setbacks.
What You'll Need:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred).
Strong ambition to pursue certifications such as Terraform, AWS, Harness, etc.
Experience with version control tools (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket).
Familiarity with compute platforms (VMware, OpenShift, Kubernetes).
Cloud platform experience (AWS strongly preferred).
Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Go, Bash, Terraform, Ansible).
Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and modern deployment methodologies.
Solid understanding of Unix/Linux and Windows systems, networking fundamentals, virtualization (VMware), and storage (NAS/SAN).
Experience with ServiceNow Integration Hub and SaaS tool management.
Clear understanding of application lifecycle management.
Demonstrated ability to write, modify, and debug code.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities.
A track record of innovation and a strong sense of ownership.
