Job summary

Blitz AI is seeking a hands-on Platform Engineer who has built applications from the ground up and led an engineering team to deliver at scale. You will write code, resolve production issues, and guide a 25-member team through the full software lifecycle.

You will design event-driven architectures with Kafka, build REST/GraphQL APIs, deploy on Azure (primary) and AWS, and drive DevOps practices, IaC, monitoring, and incident management to accelerate velocity and reliability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading teams of engineers in a full SDLC.
• Hands-on development with Java, Spring Boot, React, Angular.
• Strong knowledge of Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Proficient in API design, versioning, documentation, and governance.
• Cloud expertise on Microsoft Azure (certifications preferred) and AWS knowledge.

Role & responsibilities

We are looking for a hands-on, execution-driven Platform Engineer who has built applications from the ground up and led engineering teams to deliver at scale. This is not a whiteboard role we need someone who has been in the trenches, written the code, resolved production issues, and led a team of 25 engineers through the full software development lifecycle. If you are the person your team calls when things break and the one who rolls up your sleeves to fix it, this role is for you.

What You Will Do:

• Lead and manage a cross-functional engineering team of 25 members, driving delivery, accountability, and technical excellence
• Build, scale, and maintain robust applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, and Angular
• Design and implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka
• Develop and maintain high-quality REST/GraphQL APIs with a focus on performance, security, and reliability
• Architect and deploy solutions on Microsoft Azure (primary) and AWS, leveraging cloud-native services end to end
• Own the full application lifecycle from ideation and architecture to execution, deployment, and post-production stability
• Drive DevOps practices on the ground — CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and incident management
• Architect and implement agentic AI workflows and integrate AI into the SDLC for faster, smarter delivery
• Build and optimize automated, fast-track workflows to accelerate engineering velocity
• Act as the tactical fixer — unblocking teams, resolving bottlenecks, and making real-time decisions under pressure
• Collaborate closely with Solution Architects, Product Managers, and stakeholders — communicating clearly and confidently across levels

Preferred candidate profile

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in Java & Spring Boot — you've built production-grade backend systems
• Hands-on experience with React and Angular for frontend development
• Deep understanding of Kafka and event-driven/messaging architectures
• Solid API development experience — design, versioning, documentation, and governance
• Proven cloud expertise on Microsoft Azure (certifications strongly preferred) and working knowledge of AWS
• Strong DevOps experience — pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), IaC (Terraform/Bicep), monitoring tools
• Experience architecting agentic AI workflows and embedding AI tooling within the software development lifecycle
• Exposure to fast-track automation frameworks and workflow orchestration tools

• Proven experience leading teams of 2-5 engineers in a hands-on, tactical capacity
• Strong people management skills — mentoring, performance management, and team building
• Excellent communicator — able to translate technical complexity into clear direction for both engineers and business stakeholders
