Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Senior OpenShift Bare Metal Consultant to lead deployment, automation, security, and lifecycle management of large OpenShift environments. You will manage 60+ clusters across environments, planning, deploying, upgrading, and maintaining apps using GitOps while ensuring security and reliability.

A client of Red Hat is seeking an experienced Senior OpenShift Bare Metal Consultant to lead the deployment, automation, security, and lifecycle management of large-scale OpenShift environments. The ideal candidate will have deep hands‑on expertise managing enterprise OpenShift platforms running on bare metal infrastructure and supporting a fleet of more than 60 clusters across multiple environments.

The consultant will be responsible for planning, deploying, upgrading, and maintaining applications using GitOps methodologies while ensuring platform consistency, security, and operational excellence across the entire cluster landscape.

This role requires extensive experience building scalable GitOps frameworks, implementing repeatable deployment strategies, securing Kubernetes/OpenShift environments, automating operational processes, and supporting mission‑critical workloads.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and security teams to ensure platform reliability, security, and performance while maintaining comprehensive technical documentation and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

GitOps & Fleet Management

• Plan, deploy, and manage the lifecycle of applications using GitOps across more than 60 OpenShift clusters.
• Upgrade, install, and maintain security tools across all clusters, including:
• Prisma Cloud
• SentinelOne
• Build scalable GitOps frameworks and deployment strategies for enterprise environments.

Kubernetes/OpenShift Security & Secret Management

• Integrate OpenShift clusters with Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions.
• Manage secrets, credentials, URLs, and secure configurations.
• Create and maintain secrets within HashiCorp Vault.
• Establish and support integrations between HashiCorp Vault and External Secrets Operator (ESO).
• Implement post‑installation security configurations, including:
• Kubeadmin password rotation using AAP playbooks
• MFA implementation
• OIDC integrations with Okta
• Ensure enterprise security standards and best practices are consistently applied.

Application & Platform Support

• Develop and maintain custom Helm charts for security and operational tools.
• Specialised application workloads
• Troubleshoot complex service installations and platform issues.
• Work with engineering, operations, and security teams to resolve production issues.

Automation & Scripting

• Create automation playbooks and workflows for:
• Cluster health checks
• Inventory creation and validation
• Security tool deployment
• Automated merge request generation for SentinelOne and Prisma deployments
• Build operational automation to improve platform efficiency and reliability.

Documentation & Operational Excellence

• Create and maintain Methods of Procedure (MoPs).
• Develop technical documentation, runbooks, and operational guides.
• Support knowledge transfer and operational readiness across teams.
