Job summary

CyberX Info System is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, administer, maintain a containerized platform spanning Kubernetes-based infrastructure, cloud services, storage, and automated deployment pipelines.

The role requires hands-on Linux, networking, automation, and troubleshooting capabilities, with emphasis on OpenShift/RKE2, GitOps, CI/CD, IaC, Terraform, Ansible, AWS, and observability tools to ensure reliability, security, and performance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on administration of OpenShift and/or RKE2 environments.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, workloads, services, networking, and resource management.
• Experience troubleshooting pod failures, scheduling issues, service connectivity, and deployment problems.
• Knowledge of persistent storage, PVCs, PVs, StorageClasses, and volume-mount troubleshooting.
• Experience with RBAC, ServiceAccounts, secrets management, and Kubernetes security practices.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage infrastructure using Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Support AWS infrastructure, including EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC networking.
• Troubleshoot Linux systems, container workloads, networking, access controls, storage, and cloud infrastructure issues.
• Implement and maintain RBAC, ServiceAccounts, secrets management, and cluster security controls.
• Manage container images and registries, including Artifactory, Harbor, or Nexus.
• Support Apache Pulsar messaging infrastructure, including topic administration and troubleshooting.
• Monitor platform health and performance using Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, or comparable observability tools.
• Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, document findings, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve platform stability, deployment efficiency, security, and operational readiness.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to design, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot a containerized platform spanning Kubernetes-based infrastructure, cloud services, storage, and automated deployment pipelines.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with OpenShift and/or RKE2, GitOps, CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and AWS infrastructure. This individual will take ownership of platform operations, resolve complex technical issues, lead root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions to improve platform reliability, security, and performance.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong Linux administration, networking, automation, and troubleshooting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot OpenShift and RKE2 Kubernetes clusters.
• Manage Kubernetes resources, including Namespaces, Pods, Deployments, StatefulSets, Jobs, Services, Secrets, and ConfigMaps.
• Troubleshoot persistent storage issues involving PersistentVolumeClaims (PVCs), PersistentVolumes (PVs), StorageClasses, and volume mounts.

Required Technical Qualifications

1. Kubernetes and Container Platforms

• Hands-on administration of OpenShift and/or RKE2 environments.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, workloads, services, networking, and resource management.
• Experience troubleshooting pod failures, scheduling issues, service connectivity, and deployment problems.
• Knowledge of persistent storage, PVCs, PVs, StorageClasses, and volume-mount troubleshooting.
• Experience with RBAC, ServiceAccounts, secrets management, and Kubernetes security practices.

2. Automation and CI/CD

• Proficiency in Ansible, including developing roles, playbooks, inventories, and reusable automation.
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Strong Git fundamentals and experience with GitLab CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience with Argo CD and GitOps-based deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with container image management and registries such as Artifactory, Harbor, or Nexus.

3. AWS, Linux, and Networking

• Experience supporting AWS services, including IAM, EC2, EBS, S3, CloudWatch, and VPC.
• Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to diagnose cloud infrastructure, permissions, storage, and connectivity issues.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, ingress/egress traffic, and service-to-service communication.

4. Messaging and Observability

• Experience administering or troubleshooting Apache Pulsar, including topics and messaging workflows.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, and OpenSearch.
• Ability to analyze system metrics, logs, alerts, and events to identify and resolve production issues.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across application, container, cluster, cloud, storage, and networking layers.
• Demonstrated ownership of platform operations and incident resolution.
• Methodical approach to root cause analysis and problem prevention.
• Clear technical documentation and incident reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently in a demanding, security-sensitive environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Clearance and Employment Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph is required.
• Must be available to work 100% onsite in Richardson, Texas.
